A bit about us
Huntersbest Labradors is a family run breeding/training and boarding kennel located on 165 acres in Newport, Nova Scotia, Canada. We are Permanently Registered with the Canadian Kennel Club and have been breeding since 1990. The goal of our breeding program is to produce good looking, intelligent and genetically clean Labrador and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers that carry on the breeds hunting instincts. At the same time we seek animals with quiet friendly demeanors enabling them to be outstanding house companions and to safely interact with children of all ages. We achieve our breeding goals by line breeding and by select outcrosses to other outstanding performers.As all our dogs are valued members of our family, their health and longevity are very important to us. We limit the number of times a female is bred to a maximum of four times in her lifetime. All our females are hunting dogs and will not be bred without having proven their abilities by attaining titles in Working Certificate Tests, Hunt Tests or Field Trials. Our litters are usually limited to one a year. When we breed, we usually keep a dog for ourselves to replace one of our retiring older dogs. We research potential males (studs) very thoroughly to ensure they are genetically clean and carry on traits that will match well with our females to produce the best quality pups possible. As with our females, the males we choose as stud dogs are all proven hunters and have obtained working titles or distinctions.
We currently have four Labrador Retrievers and one Chesapeake Bay Retriever at the kennel.
